West Des Moines-based KCL Engineering typically stands in the spotlight because of its creative lighting projects. Inc. Magazine believes we should pay attention to what’s happening inside its Valley Junction office. KCL was named among the magazines 283 Best Workplaces for 2018. The finalists were drawn from submissions on behalf of more than 1,800 companies. KCL was one of three engineering companies to make the list, and one of two Iowa firms. KCL says it is a great workplace because “Our people are authentic, hardworking and fun. We put people — not a process — first. … We have fun. We have a ‘hold my beer,’ mentality.
