Des Moines Register President and Publisher David Chivers will leave the Des Moines Register and Gannett to pursue other interests, the Register reported. Chivers, who grew up in Greater Des Moines, has held the post since 2015. He previously worked as a chief digital officer at Jostens and in executive roles at Dow Jones and Meredith Corp. Chivers’ predecessor at the Register, Rick Green, now is supervising the Register’s news content as part of his Gannett regional duties and is editor of the Louisville Courier-Journal. Allen Jones, president of the Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader, also will lead executives in Iowa. Eddie Tyner, who is based in Cincinnati and is president of USA Today Network’s Midwest Region, has overall strategic leadership responsibilities for sales in Iowa and 34 other Midwest markets, the Register reported.
