Des Moines Register: Iowa’s Medicaid director offered a general explanation today of how his staff estimates taxpayers’ cost savings from having a privately managed Medicaid system, but he didn’t give details on why that estimate abruptly tripled last month. “Really, what we were looking at was cost in the Medicaid program overall with and without the managed care organizations,” Mike Randol told an advisory council for the Department of Human Services.
