“Michael Sadler’s civic-mindedness becomes apparent with a glance at the number of boards and committees that he is a member of.
“The Urbandale resident serves on the boards of the Science Center of Iowa, Creative Visions, and the Iowa Business Council. He is a board member of Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates and the Iowa Taxpayers Association. He is also a member of the Iowa Business Council’s diversity committee.
Sadler is the 2003 American Diabetes Association fundraiser of the year and received a national Jobs for Graduates “Above and Beyond” award. He serves on the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s communications committee and is a member of the 2005 Leadership Iowa planning committee. He is president of the Iowa chapter of the Qwest Alliance of Black Telecommunications Professionals.
“As a community volunteer, Michael leads many not-for-profit organizations to greater success and service,” wrote his nominator, Mike Ralston, director of the Iowa Department of Revenue. “He is a leader n the truest sense of the word.”
Sadler, who has worked in the telecommunications field for 14 years is currently director of policy and law for Qwest Communications International in Iowa. he began his career with Qwest as a sales consultant, moving up to customer service manager and then manager of policy and law.
In his current position, the 38-year-old is responsible for coordination of Qwest’s governmental affairs activities in Iowa, including presenting the company’s positions to legislators, coordinating public relations efforts in the state and leading political efforts of Qwest employees and retirees.
He holds a bachelors of business administration from Simpson College and an MBA with an emphasis in quality management from Upper Iowa University. Sadler is a class of 2003 graduate of Leadership Urbandale.
He and his wife, Eleena, have a daughter, Mykal.
