Fourteen out of 22 Iowa-based companies posted gains for the month of June. Two remained unchanged and six posted losses. 

Winnebago Industries Inc. posted a 12 percent gain, followed by Lee Enterprises Inc. with an 11.76 percent gain. Winnebago recently reported strong third-quarter earnings, and Lee was recently tapped to manage many Berkshire Hathaway newspapers. NewLink Genetics Corp. was down 9.51 percent for the month.

The Iowa Index, an unweighted average price of 22 Iowa-based public companies, increased by 1.54 percent from May and was up 7.10 percent on a year-over-year basis, the Business Record’s monthly snapshot of Iowa companies shows. 

By comparison, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 0.59 percent while the Nasdaq gained 0.92 percent in June.
