Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller and his staff are investigating Wells Fargo over whether the company harmed consumers through fraudulent accounts, The Des Moines Register reported. Assistant Attorney General Patrick Madigan said the Iowa office has been a part of a multistate investigation since late last year, but he could not comment on any potential findings. "We’ve been involved from the beginning," Madigan told the Register. "And we are one of the leadership states in that effort. That's all I can tell you." The bank acknowledged last fall that employees opened 12,000 accounts in Iowa without the customers’ permission.
