The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, 909 Robert Ray Dr. in Des Moines, will reopen to the public on Saturday, Sept. 28, after a nearly three-month closure for construction, according to a news release sent today. The reopening comes halfway through an $11.6 million project that includes a new lobby and office suite, renovated event spaces, and numerous improvements to the conservatory's pathways, gardens and balcony. Outdoor renovations will continue, with various completion dates throughout 2013 and 2014. A second phase of fundraising is currently underway to continue development of the center's outdoor gardens.
