The city of Cedar Rapids and the Des Moines-based nonprofit Urban Dreams are launching a new workforce training apprenticeship program for Cedar Rapids. The program focuses on adults and young people from the city’s underserved and low-socioeconomic areas, particularly high school dropouts or at-risk youth, individuals lacking career guidance, those with prior criminal records, and those under- or unemployed. The Cedar Rapids Urban Dreams program will provide participants with pre-employment training and additional support network, and provide technical and cultural competency training for local employers participating in the program.
