Central College in Pella announced it will host a new event, "Leadership for the Common Good: Women's Leadership Conference," later this month. The three-day conference will provide opportunities for juniors at Central to meet with regional female leaders who are experts in their fields and set an example for female scholars and future leaders. Student participants have been nominated by faculty and staff members. "Participants will learn about teamwork, civic leadership, curiosity and entrepreneurship, and hone negotiation skills," said Jess Klyn de Novelo, Central’s director of career and professional development and the event's coordinator. The conference will be held on campus Aug. 21-23, with visits to businesses and nonprofits in the Des Moines region and Pella. The conference is made possible through funding by the Monticello College Foundation, the Vermeer Charitable Foundation and private donations.
