Des Moines Arts Festival to host inaugural MicroGrant Dinner for artists
Thursday, August 4, 2022 2:21 PM
The Des Moines Arts Festival will host a MicroGrant Dinner to raise funds for local artists seeking
to accelerate a new idea or project. During the new event, the first of which is scheduled Sept. 29 at West End Architectural Salvage in Des Moines, five artists will present their projects and the guests will vote for their favorite project. The winning artist will take home the ticket proceeds as a microgrant for their project. “One of our organization’s core values is to champion new and emerging ideas,” said Stephen King, executive director of the Des Moines Arts Festival. “The MicroGrant Dinner does just that by supporting the artists’ vision and bringing the community together to make that vision a reality.” Tickets are $35 each and include admission to the event, dinner, nonalcoholic beverages and a contribution to the selected artist project. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Tickets are limited and available at
www.desmoinesartsfestival.org/microgrant
. Artists interested in presenting their project at the MicroGrant Dinner can
apply online here.
Applications are due Aug. 23. Only five artists will be selected for this inaugural dinner. Additional dinners are planned in the future.
