Des Moines Register: The NCAA men’s basketball tournament is returning to downtown Des Moines. The NCAA announced today that the first and second rounds of the 2023 tournament are coming to Wells Fargo Arena for the third time. The major event was successful in 2016 and 2019, the last time Des Moines hosted. The NCAA’s biggest annual event brings Des Moines roughly $4.6 million in direct spending, Catch Des Moines CEO Greg Edwards has said. “The NCAA has told us they like our location, our airport and the convenience of getting in and out,’” Edwards said last January. “They like the fact we’ve hosted this two different times and we know what we’re doing.”
