The Downtown Community Alliance today announced a new event called "Welcome Back to Walnut Street," to be held June 21 and 22.

The event will feature food trucks and street vendors on both days, and on Saturday will feature a pop-up art gallery, pop-up retail and live music.

"Walnut Street is in transition stage right now," said Glenn Lyons, president and CEO of the Downtown Community Alliance. "With the transit center in its new home and design plans being approved at the city, we want to invite the public for a taste of what Walnut Street can become in the future - a thriving district with art, music and good food."

Food vendors include The Rolling Wok, The Mediterranean Grill, Taco Loco, Gusto Pizza and Big City Burgers.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 21, and 3 to 9 p.m. on June 22. It will be held on Walnut Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. Additional

events will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 13.
