Sick and tired of winter? The YMCA of Greater Des Moines has a remedy this weekend. The YMCA is sponsoring its first-ever Cabin Fever Weekend on Feb. 23-24 at six branch locations in the metro area and at the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus in Des Moines. All events and activities are free and open to the public; membership is not required. “We are opening our facilities to the community and inviting everyone inside for games, sports, swimming, exercise and other activities they can enjoy with family and friends,” spokeswoman Ruth Comer said. Activities are planned at Walnut Creek Family YMCA, Waukee Family YMCA, South Suburban YMCA, John R. Grubb YMCA, Wellmark YMCA and Indianola YMCA. Planned activities include a Disney-themed pool party, a kids’ carnival, family pickleball and dodgeball, fitness classes, movies, inflatables, treats, and more.
