The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has proposed a rule to establish a drug and alcohol testing database of all national commercial driver's license holders, Trucking Info reported. The clearinghouse would help improve roadway safety by making it easier to determine whether a truck or bus driver is prohibited from operating a commercial motor vehicle for failing to comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations, including mandatory testing, according to the agency. A proposed rule announced by the agency would create a single federal repository that employers would be required to use to conduct pre-employment screenings and annual reviews on current drivers.
