In a blog post, Gravitate guru Geoff Wood notes the co-working site drew an average of more than 80 people a month in 2016. That was up from 63 in 2015 and 42 the year before. Gravitate, a community of 1,000 innovators with headquarters in an 8,500-square-foot site downtown, has a waiting list for some of its special office and dedicated desk memberships. Gravitate is looking to expand to a couple of new locations in Iowa. Pop-up events in Ames have continued. Wood also joined Dwolla founder Ben Milne to launch a startup news site about startups, Clay & Milk, featuring the work of former Des Moines Register business reporter Matt Patane.
