A multi-building apartment project under construction south of Principal Park has new owners who plan to make the development larger than planned.

Jackson Crossing LLC, which consists of Jake Christensen, Jim Cownie and Paul Hayes, paid $1.4 million to Neighborhood Development Corp. for several properties near Indianola and Jackson avenues, where a 165-unit market-rate apartment project is under construction.

According to a release, Jackson Crossing has formed a joint venture with Neighborhood Development to complete the project.

According to property records, the limited liability company made a $400,000 construction loan to Neighborhood Development in February. The mortgage on that loan was released when Jackson Crossing purchased the property on March 31. The project once was called Dunham Square. It has been renamed Jackson Crossing.

A separate limited liability company, also with Christensen, Cownie and Hayes as partners, is purchasing an adjacent property at 4 Jackson Ave. South Union Corner LLC plans 79 apartments for that site as the second phase of the overall project.

The first phase will be completed by the end of the year, with the first building available for lease in October, according to a release. The entire development is planned for completion in March 2017.

Planned amenities at Jackson Crossing include a dog park and pet washing stations, bike storage and bike washing stations, community gardening spaces, fitness equipment and free parking. Apartment sizes will range from studio up to three-bedroom units.
