The Enhance Iowa board has awarded more than $5.1 million to projects in 16 communities across the state, including four in Central Iowa. According to a news release, the Community Attraction and Tourism Grants that were announced Thursday provide financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in their communities and the state. Central Iowa communities that were awarded CAT grants were:
  • Grimes, new public library building, $400,000.
  • Marshalltown Arts and Civic Center Renovation, $400,000.
  • Nevada Fieldhouse, $424,000.
  • Waukee, all-inclusive area, including Miracle Field ballpark, at Triumph Park, $200,000.
