Des Moines Register: Alliant Energy plans to plant 1 million trees in Iowa and Wisconsin over the next decade, part of the electric utility's efforts to reduce the effects of carbon dioxide emissions. It will plant at least half of the trees in Iowa, representing each customer it serves, officials said. Iowans will first see the utility's efforts in the state's urban areas, a welcome investment in Cedar Rapids and other cities and towns rebuilding tree canopies decimated by the derecho that ripped through the state last August.
