Jennifer Cooper, vice president and manager of the commercial real estate team at Bankers Trust Co., is the 2019 Business Record CRE Pro of the Year.

Cooper has nearly 29 years of banking experience, much of that in commercial real estate lending. She is “highly principled, very positive, and extremely personable,” Buyers Realty President Ron Daniels wrote in a letter recommending Cooper for the award.

She has a legion of proponents that includes other prominent names in commercial real estate development and brokerage.

Cooper was key to assembling a nearly mind-boggling financing package for the Hilton Convention Center Hotel, the long-sought convention hotel that opened last year on the Iowa Events Center campus.

“Jeni oversaw it all. She was always prepared and accessible with my questions, knowledgeable with prompt responses and although not essential, fun to be around,” said Polk County Administrator Mark Wandro.

Gerry Neugent, chairman and CEO of Knapp Properties, said, “Jeni has raised the bar for the borrowers in the commercial real estate profession being creative and innovative. Our industry is better for Jeni’s work.”

The award will be presented at the annual Commercial Real Estate Trends and Issues Forum on April 25 at Urbandale Hilton Garden Inn. You can read more about Cooper in the April 26 issue of the Business Record.

Previous CRE Pro of the Year recipients were Neugent, Rick Tollakson of Hubbell Realty Co., Richard Hurd of Hurd Real Estate Services and Jake Christensen of Christensen Development.
