West Des Moines-based private equity fund Midwest Growth Partners announced it has capitalized Canoyer Garden Center in support of Canoyer’s recent acquisition of Stewart’s Greenhouse. Canoyer is a Grimes-based grower and retailer of premium flowers, plants, shrubs and vegetables. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The company is led by Kyle Canoyer, a second-generation Iowa grower and greenhouse operator. He started the business in Grimes in 2003 and has since expanded the company to include three greenhouse growing facilities and two retail locations, in Grimes and Ankeny. Stewart’s is a grower and wholesaler of tropical indoor plants based in Mount Dora, Fla. “Partnering with MGP gives us the resources to vertically integrate the Canoyer operation, so we can continue to provide the highest quality products our customers have come to expect,” Canoyer said in a press release. “MGP is excited to be partnering with Kyle and his family as they continue to grow the business,” said John Mickelson, manager partner of MGP. “Kyle has a proven track record of building and integrating new locations, and we look forward to supporting his vision going forward."
