The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Des Moines Area Community College a grant of up to $558,120 for child care services meant to encourage low-income parents to take courses. “Funding from this grant will permit us to increase capacity within our newest and most requested area in the Child Development Center, the infant care area,” said Arthur Brown, DMACC Health and Public Services academic dean. DMACC plans to add another child development specialist, which would double the number of infants the center could care for.
