Stephanie Jutila has resigned as president and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, with the naming of an interim director expected as early as this week, according to an emailed statement. In the email, board Chair Stacey Johnson said Jutila would be providing support through the transition. The email did not specify when the resignation would be effective or when it was submitted by Jutila. Johnson said in the email that an outside firm would be used to conduct a national search to fill the president and CEO position, although a final timeline had not been set. Jutila has served as president and CEO of the Botanical Garden for nearly nine years, leading several initiatives and helping it transition from a city-run facility to a stand-alone nonprofit organization. Johnson said the transition comes as the facility takes the “next steps in the growth and development … where education, innovation, culture and ecology are all important parts of what we stand for.” In the email, Johnson said the Botanical Garden is “well-positioned for a strong and vibrant future.”
