Des Moines’ Planning and Zoning Commission last week approved the site plan for a non-fuel Casey’s General Store at 3121 Forest Ave. The commission’s approval allows for the construction of a 3,400-square-foot convenience store that will front Forest Avenue and will have parking in the rear. Neighborhood Development Corp. owns the Forest Avenue parcel, which over the years has been a gasoline service station and auto repair shop. The property is valued at $155,000, according to the Polk County assessor. The store, when completed, will be Casey’s first non-fuel location in Iowa.
