Stephan Kerby, a financial adviser with KMF Advisors in West Des Moines, has became the first adviser in the United States to earn the new Chartered SRI Counselor (CSRIC) designation through the College for Financial Planning. The program, developed in partnership with US SIF, the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, provides a blend of foundational knowledge and scenario learning to work with sustainable, responsible and impact (SRI) investments for a variety of clients. “We launched that program in the middle of last month, and he was the first person to successfully complete it,” said Christopher Allen, marketing director for the College for Financial Planning. “In fact, he's the only graduate at the moment.” Kerby, who works with high-net-worth investors, said that about 97 percent of his clients are invested in SRI investments. “To me, the designation was really an opportunity to distinguish myself and to demonstrate my commitment to this,” he said.
