Today, dsm magazine today named six people as its Sages Over 70 class.


The magazine honors people over the age of 70 who have contributed to the betterment of Greater Des Moines and continue to do so today.


This year's honorees are:

  • Charles "Chuck" Betts, former owner of Betts Cadillac.
  • J.C. "Buz" Brenton, retired bank executive and longtime philanthropist.
  • Donald "Don" Brush, former mayor of the city of Urbandale and retired vice president of Wells Fargo Private Client Services.
  • Judy Conlin, executive director of the Iowa International Center.
  • Patty Cownie, longtime community volunteer.
  • Stan Reynolds, founder of Reynolds and Reynolds.Inc.

The honorees will be recognized in the November issue of the magazine and also at an event on Nov. 11. The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Temple for Performing Arts.


This year's Sages join three past classes that included Monroe Colston, William Knapp, Gov. Robert Ray, Tom Urban and Fred Weitz. For a full list of former honorees, click here.
