About me:

Life holds two great passions for me -- family and the news.

Serving as editor of the Des Moines Business Record allows me to pursue one of those in a city I’ve called home since 2000. At that time, I was lucky to get hired at The Des Moines Register, where I spent most of the past 17 years working in a variety of editing roles after getting a start in reporting and editing at the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. A few other jobs and a master’s degree cropped up over the years, but journalism kept calling.

Now Central Iowa business news will be my focus. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me (or the Business Record’s excellent reporters Perry Beeman, Kent Darr and Joe Gardyasz) about how the Record can help your organization and the business community.

Outside work, my time revolves around my other passion -- my guys, husband Jon Heseman and our son, Jaymes, who is either in elementary school or in a galaxy far, far away.

I enjoy coffee, family adventures, church activities at Lutheran Church of Hope, reading, baking, working out at Farrell’s Waukee and business news, of course.
