President Barack Obama found a teammate in the Nike Foundation during the planning of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago - with visions of a new kind of presidential library with a public athletic facility, which Nike pledged $5 million to support. The athletic facility isn’t the only new feature for this presidential library: a sledding hill, branch location for the Chicago Public Library and public forum location is also being planned. It’s a true mixed-use facility plan, with all buildings open to public use, for the historic Jackson Park (although an appeal attempting to block the library’s location is still working through the courts).
