State personal income in the second quarter of 2013 dropped by 0.4 percent in Iowa as compared with the same period a year ago, according to numbers released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. On average, state personal income grew by 1 percent in the second quarter, led by a 1.5 percent growth in Florida and Arizona. Iowa had the second-largest drop in the country, smaller than only Nebraska's decrease of 0.7 percent. However, in the the first quarter Iowa had the second-highest gain in the country with a year-over-year increase of 1.7 percent.
