Business travel was responsible for about 3 percent of U.S. gross domestic product in 2012, according to a report released today by the Global Business Travel Association Foundation. The report said the nation's businesses spent $384 billion to send employees on the road on 452 million business trips, and said that the business travel industry supports 7.1 million jobs and generated $118 billion in federal, state and local taxes. The Global Business Travel Association Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves as an education and research resource for the business travel industry.
