China is loading up on U.S. pork despite tariffs imposed during the U.S.-Chinese trade war, reports Reuters. The country placed its largest order for American pork since the trade war began last week, which is seen as a signal that an outbreak of African swine fever may eventually cause a supply shortfall without the American products. China has previously imposed retaliatory tariffs on U.S. farm products in response to the Trump administration’s tariffs, including duties of 62 percent on American pork. China has seen more than 70 outbreaks of African swine fever, which has no cure or vaccine.
