Central Iowa Works is one of just two organizations nationwide to receive a 2014 award recognizing collaborative efforts to reduce their state's skills gap. Pat Steele, Central Iowa Works site director, accepted the award from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions last week in Chicago.The National Fund is a national partnership of communities, employers, workers and philanthropists. Central Iowa Works was honored for leading the Iowa Skills2Compete Coalition, a statewide partnership of Iowa's business, community, education, labor, legislative and workforce development leaders that aims to close Iowa's skills gap and build pathways to good jobs and economic security for all residents.
