UnityPoint Health has named Art Nizza as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Nizza most recently was president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Meriter in Madison, Wis., and will retain his role of CEO of Meriter. In the newly created position, Nizza will report directly to UnityPoint Health CEO Kevin Vermeer and will have responsibilities for supply chain, owned and partnership entities, pharmacy and system operating performance. Prior to Meriter, Nizza worked extensively in New York. He was the first president of MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center. Nizza has also led St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers and Stellaris Health Network as president and CEO. Sue Erickson has been named president of Meriter, expanding upon her current role as chief operating officer. Meriter Health Systems became an affiliate of UnityPoint Health in October 2013.
