Editorial leadership at Forbes is receiving an enormous amount of heat after publishing its list of the top 100 CEOs, reports the Washington Post. The cause: The list contained one sole woman, Ross Stores CEO Barbara Rentler at No. 75. “We deserved the backlash,” Forbes editor Randall Lane said. In a post, Lane detailed Forbes’ methodology, which started with CEOs of the largest publicly traded companies -- a pool that critics, and Lane, say immediately threw the whole exercise off base as women represent only 5% of CEOs in the S&P 500 index.
