Des Moines Register: The Des Moines City Council unanimously approved a police request to buy $99,000 in ammunition, to be used on-duty and for training, after Monday's meeting ended abruptly during emphatic public comment against the purchase. The council reconvened on Wednesday in a marathon meeting lasting more than 11 hours. The ammunition — 396,000 rounds of various calibers for both handguns and rifles — will be purchased from Indiana-based Kiesler Police Supply.
