Des Moines Register: A virtual Des Moines City Council meeting, where officials were set to consider the purchase of $99,000 in ammunition for the police department, ended abruptly without a vote after city officials were unable to shut down vociferous public comment. During the meeting, nearly two dozen people, including Des Moines Black Lives Matter organizers, spoke against the purchase, then continued speaking after the City Clerk was unable to mute their lines. At least one person was swearing, leading officials including Mayor Frank Cownie to suggest shutting down the meeting. The council will reconvene at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
