Twenty-nine communities across Iowa are receiving a combined $2.9 million in Catalyst Grant funding from the state, Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg announced Thursday. Out of the 29 communities awarded in 2019, 16 have populations of fewer than 1,500. Awardees were recognized Thursday night at the Rural Summit in Grinnell. The Community Catalyst program, which awards $100,000 per community, was initiated in 2018 by the Iowa Economic Development Authority to assist with the redevelopment or rehabilitation of buildings to stimulate economic growth and reinvestment.
