The Iowa Women's Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2018 grants.

Economic self-sufficiency for all of Iowa's women and girls is central to the mission of the Iowa Women's Foundation and to its grant program. To be considered for possible grant funding, proposed projects must focus primarily on serving the needs and aspirations of women and girls.

In its 2016 "She Matters" report, IWF identified six areas that are critical barriers standing between Iowa women and girls and economic self-sufficiency. Proposed projects must address one of these barriers. The barriers are employment, child care, housing, education/training, transportation and mentorship.

IWF also is hosting information sessions about its grant program across the state. Sessions will be held in Iowa City, Davenport, Des Moines and Waterloo. At each session, an overview of IWF will be provided to offer applicants assistance on how to prepare a competitive application. A Q&A session will follow and attendees will have an opportunity to meet the IWF staff and other applicants.

Eligibility requirements, information session schedule and the application are available at All applications must be completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on May 31.
