Heritage Agency on Aging names new director: Barbara Werning will become the new executive director of Heritage Agency on Aging in Cedar Rapids on June 30. Werning has spent the last five years as executive director for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. She will be Heritage’s first executive director since July 2017 and its first since transitioning to a nonprofit organization last July 2019.

Delta Dental of Iowa leader chosen for national philanthropy fellowship: Beth Jones, director of community impact at Delta Dental of Iowa, has been selected for the Grantmakers in Health Terrance Keenan Foundation Fellow program for 2020. The leadership development program focuses on the health philanthropy industry’s emerging leaders and provides issues management discussion and networking. Jones, the director of community impact at Delta Dental, is one of just 18 professionals chosen nationally for the yearlong program.

Women Lead Change announces Dubuque conference keynote speaker: Katrina Adams, a former pro tennis player and the youngest person ever to serve as president of the United States Tennis Association, will keynote the 2020 Women Lead Change All-Virtual Dubuque Conference on Oct. 8, the organization announced. Registration is available online. The Dubuque Conference will also feature keynote addresses from Cy Wakeman, a leadership author and expert, and Stacey Hanke, communications author and speaker.

Black Iowa Business Directory planned: The Des Moines-based Director’s Council and the Financial Empowerment Center are taking applications to launch the Black Iowa Business Directory, an online platform allowing Black-owned businesses to list themselves for more visibility and allowing customers to search for Black-owned products and services. Business owners can apply to be listed online.

Iowa Latino Hall of Fame nominations open: The Iowa Department of Human Rights is accepting nominations for 2020 inductees into the Iowa Latino Hall of Fame, which recognizes and honors Iowa’s Latino leaders. In addition to the Hall of Fame, nominations are also open for the following categories: Iowa Latinx Youth Leadership Award, Robert D. Ray Award for Equity and Justice, and the Iowa LGBTQIA Leadership Award. Inductees are recognized each year at a special ceremony during National Latino Heritage Month, held Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
