The Young Women's Resource Center in Des Moines plans to open the Louise Noun Library, which will house more than 400 books from the late social activist's personal collection centered on women's studies, history, literature and art. Books from the collection will be available to the public to check out year-round. To help celebrate the opening of the library, the YWRC has partnered with the DSM Girl Gang to hold a corresponding exhibit of visual and written works by over 50 local female artists and authors, titled "The Well-Read Woman." The exhibit will be available to view at the YWRC during March. A reception hosted by Jim and Ellen Hubbell for the new library will be held Friday, March 3, from 6 to 9 p.m at the YWRC, 818 Fifth Ave., with light refreshments and a live harp performance by Sarah Mowitz. There will be a brief program at 6:30 p.m. to highlight the book collection and art exhibit.
