The number of U.S. properties with foreclosure filings fell 23 percent in April from the previous year, bringing foreclosure activity to a 74-month low, according to market researcher RealtyTrac Inc., MarketWatch reported.

There were 144,790 U.S. properties with default notices, scheduled actions and bank repossessions in April, down 5 percent from March, RealtyTrac reported.

There were a total of 70,133 foreclosure starts in April, down 28 percent from a year earlier and down 4 percent from the previous month. Read more.
