Hubbell Realty Co. has started construction on the fifth and final warehouse at its Grimes Distribution Center. The $8 million building sits on over 8 acres and will have frontage along Iowa Highway 141, which carries more than 20,000 commuters every day. The building will feature 110,000 square feet of customizable warehouse space and includes 32-foot clear height ceilings, an Early Suppression Fast Response sprinkler system, a significant number of dock and drive-in doors, and highly visible monument and building signage. “Grimes V will differ from our prior four buildings in that it will be full precast construction, it will have significant glass within the facade and it sits adjacent to Highway 141,” Chris Trosper, development project manager with Hubbell, said in a release. The building will be located at 1301 S.E. Gateway Drive and is expected to be completed in fall 2019. The first four buildings within Grimes Distribution Center feature a range of users, including Pole Position Raceway Des Moines, a go-kart facility; Pipeline Packaging Corp.; Capitol Express; Wright Service Corp.; Safelite Auto Glass; and Arctic Glacier. Leasing is being handled by Chris Pendroy and Marty Herrmann of CBRE|Hubbell Commercial.
