Re/Max Precision Urban Office opens today in its new office at 3720 Sixth Ave. in Des Moines.

The office, described in a release as Des Moines’ first neighborhood brokerage, is led by Sara Hopkins and Travis Moulton. The brokerage will house 10 licensed real estate brokers and has room to add 20 others.

“While there are many real estate offices in the suburbs, there are so few in the city,” Hopkins said in a prepared statement. “I want to create an urban environment where Realtors have a pulse on the city, can bounce ideas off each other, and Realtors and clients alike can support small neighborhood businesses.”

The office is located in an area of Des Moines that is experiencing a resurgence. Chuck's Restaurant, at 3610 Sixth Ave., is expected to reopen this month after the building in which its located underwent a $1.4 million renovation. Buildings at 3523 and 3524 Sixth Ave. were purchased by a local developer earlier this year and renovations are underway on one of the structures. Around the corner, renovations are planned in a building at 413 Euclid Ave.

In addition, Hiland Bakery reopened in early 2020 and Des Moines Mercantile and Slow Down Coffee Co. opened later in the year.

Hopkins finalized the purchase of the building at 3720 Sixth Ave. in mid-2021. Built in 1948, the structure previously was home to a small accounting firm and a thrift shop. The building has been renovated In recent months.

“I spent my childhood in this neighborhood, so investing in its revitalization means the world to me,” Hopkins said in a statement.  

The Re/Max Precision Urban Office was founded in 2021. Re/Max Precision is a Des Moines-area brokerage; Hopkins is opening its first Des Moines franchise.
