Easter Seals Iowa announced it has earned a Blue Zones Worksite designation. The Des Moines-based organization said it is the first nonprofit in Central Iowa to achieve the designation, which recognizes an organization's commitment to creating a healthier workplace and supporting the well-being of its clients and employees. The designation is a component of the Blue Zones Project launched as part of Iowa's Healthiest State Initiative. Easter Seals Iowa's accomplishments include formation of a wellness committee and participation by leadership team members in a training module, providing free, confidential biometric screenings and making ergonomic assessments available to all team members. Easter Seals' clients also grow fresh produce that they sell at the Downtown Farmers Market. To date, 226 Blue Zones Worksites have been designated statewide.
