The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has begun releasing a series of online calculators designed to help small business owners determine whether their health plans meet the requirements of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, as well as how they might benefit from the law's provisions. The latest calculator released this week helps users determine whether the insurance they offer is "affordable," as defined by the 2010 health care law. The Nashville-based nonprofit, which represents about 350,000 small business members, also produced a Medicare Wage and Investment Tax Calculator  and a Health Insurance Tax Credit Calculator. NFIB also plans to release calculators for employer mandate penalties, individual mandate taxes and individual insurance subsidies over the next two weeks.
