Three intercity bus providers receive grants for new buses, marketing
Wednesday, December 29, 2021 9:59 AM
The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved more than $1.8 million in grants for three intercity transportation providers for the 2022 Intercity Bus Program. The grants, approved on Dec. 14, are for nine projects submitted by Burlington Trailways, Jefferson Lines and the city of Fort Dodge. Funding for the grants comes from a Federal Transit Administration program designed to support intercity bus providers that serve communities with fewer than 20,000 residents. Ten applications were submitted requesting nearly $2.4 million. Jefferson Lines was awarded funds to replace two coaches. Burlington Trailways will replace one coach. All three providers will receive funding for marketing their existing services. A full listing of projects and funding is available on the Iowa Department of Transportation
