Movable Ink's "US Consumer Device Preference Report: Q4 2013" says that 65 percent of all email is now being accessed via mobile devices in the United States, a jump from 61 percent in the third quarter, VentureBeat reported. Of the 65 percent of email that gets opened on mobile gadgets, smartphones take home the lion's share of messages. About 16 percent of messages are opened on tablets, a 1 percent increase quarter over quarter.
