An eighth-grade student at Urbandale Middle School is one step closer to having her artwork featured on the Google homepage. Marissa Frost is one of the 50 state winners in Google Inc.'s sixth annual Doodle 4 Google competition, which lets student redesign the Google logo inspired by the theme "My Best Day Ever..."

"My drawing shows my best day ever because my best day will be when I have my Ph.D. as a medical scientist and work for finding cures to diseases. Helping to make others healthier would make my day the best ever," she said of her submission, shown above.

Frost is one of more than 130,000 students who submitted entries this year. All 50 state winners will have their doodles displayed in a special exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in New York May 22-July 14.

You can vote for your favorite doodle from among the 50 state winners to select five national finalists. Voting is open until May 10. Click here to vote for Frost's design.

Google will announce five national finalists and a winner on May 22.

The winning student's doodle will be displayed on the Google homepage on May 23. The winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for his or her school.
