Investments by insurers, venture capitalists and other firms in the insurance technology (insurtech) industry reached $985 million in the second quarter, up from $398 million in the same period last year, Digital Insurance reported. The 64 deals in the quarter are the most in a three-month period, and 31 of those deals were made by the venture arms of insurance companies, also a record for a quarter, according to the report by Willis Towers Watson and CB Insights. The total invested is the most in terms of raw dollars since the second quarter of 2015, the companies said.
