SwineTech Inc., an Oskaloosa-based agriculture technology startup, won $15,000 and made the four-team finals in the American Farm Bureau Federation Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge. The firm, founded by Matthew Rooda and Abraham Espinoza, was selected from 471 applicants. SwineTech, which improves monitoring and farrowing operations to prevent pig deaths, will vie for an additional $15,000 and the top awards in Nashville on Jan. 7. A People’s Choice Award will offer another $10,000.
