Two Iowa startups, ChopLocal and ReEnvision Ag, competed last week with eight other agriculture businesses in the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2023 Ag Innovation Challenge during the federation’s annual convention. ChopLocal, an online meat marketplace, was selected to compete in the live pitch finals with three other businesses and won $15,000 in prize money, according to an Iowa Farm Bureau news release. “We came in as underdogs, so we never thought we would make it to the top four,” Katie Olthoff, ChopLocal’s chief operating officer and co-founder, said in the release. “The fact that we did … it was just an unreal experience. We’re incredibly honored." ReEnvision Ag has developed a product to help farmers plant more precisely while protecting the environment.
